Thanks to all who helped in any way to make the picnic and praise in the park a success. From cake bakers to sheep knitters- over 200 were given out to children- to the marquee assemblers and the litter pickers, the teams who manned the refreshment tent, the craft tents, face painters coconut shy operatives and a huge thanks to Jim and the community choir, to the brass band and to the puppeteers all of who entertained us throughout the afternoon. But most of all thanks to you all for coming along and being part of the 800 or so people who met in the park.
We will be starting to host messy play sessions on a Tuesday morning at St Luke’s from 10-11.30. If you would like to help, maybe on a rota basis or would just like to know more, then please contact Sue on 727275
For the last two years we have run an initiative to support our primary schools by providing help with reading. Volunteers attend school on a regular basis and listen to children read. This service is particularly important to children who do not get the opportunity to read to an adult
at home. Most volunteers really enjoy this work and are continuing to be involved. However, a few have had to drop out and we now need more people to help. If you can spare a couple of hours a week then please contact Chris Wooff (tel. 01942 724207).
Our curate Sam was recently interviewed by the Diocese of Liverpool and tells us a bit about his Christian journey.
You can view a short summary of some up and coming events. Alternatively please see our complete calendar to find out about everything which is happening.
A very important part of our mission is to pray for God’s world. We are committed to praying for both the people of Ashton and our global neighbours in the wider world. If you have a prayer request then we would like to be able to pray for it. Please visit our prayer request page for more details.
If you would like to visit either St. Thomas' or St. Luke's then our maps should help.
